Welcome to Japan Creative Center ( JCC )

What are these symboles on JCC

They are traditional symbols used as family crests in Japan .

By the twelfth century, these symbols had been implemented as a distinguishing feature, especially for use in battle. They are seen on flags, tents and equipment. if you are interested in Japanese history, you might know a Shogun like Oda or Toyotomi or Tokugawa. Their symbols are shown on the right.
There are no set rules in the design of them. Each of them most commonly consists of a figure of plant, animal, man-made, natural or celestial objects, all abstracted to various degrees.

Oda Toyotomi Tokugawa

The traditional Japanese design related with the symboles continues for more than 700 years.
We would like you living all over the world to know what it is.
And now it's available on Japan Creative Center (JCC).

Oedo Antique Market
When the Tokugawa Shogunate was established in 1603, Edo (now called Tokyo ) became the center of Japan's government, culture, and economy. 2002 marked the advent of the 400th anniversary of that event. Edo was a thriving, verdant metropolis, with abundant water resources, of more than a million people by the latter half of the 18th century.
Oedo ( "O"+ edo : "O" meams great) Antique Market provides glimpses into the life and times of the people throughout the seasons of successive generations from Edo era to the present day.
